Open problem
The generalisation mentioned in the last part of the article is described as "An open problem (as of 2000) is the construction of an explicit formula for each of them." If the problem is open it can only be because nobody has yet bothered to do the work. There are eight cases, each of which can be reduced to a linear recurrent sequence of degree six in a completely standard way. I wonder whether this is really worth mentioning?
