My pleasure: but in fact it was rather odd. I changed the \mbox to a \mathrm (as \mboxs are often trouble), but that had no effect. Then I just put the $$s on seperate lines (just for tidiness, not meant to fix the problem), but it fixed the problem! Possibly a bug in MathJax.
