Usually the same as optimization of computational algorithms. Sometimes, however, these concepts are treated differently. For example, it is possible to speak of the optimality of a concrete grid method for solving a boundary value problem in some class of problems, meaning that it requires the calculation of the right-hand side at a minimal number of points. When examining questions of the optimization of a computational algorithm, a number of other aspects are also studied: methods for solving the system of grid equations that arises, the program realization of these methods, etc.
