A continuous mapping from a closed -dimensional ball into a topological Hausdorff space that is a homeomorphism on the interior of the ball. The set is then called a cell of , and is called the characteristic mapping of the cell . If is a cellular space, then the cells of are defined as those cells of that form the cellular decomposition of .
