Be it "stochastic Loewner evolution" or "Schramm–Loewner evolution", it probably is as paradigmatic in probability theory of the 21 century, as the Brownian motion is in probability theory of the 20 century.

Wendelin Werner was awarded Fields medal (2006) "for his contributions to the development of stochastic Loewner evolution, the geometry of two-dimensional Brownian motion, and conformal field theory".
