View source for Yates correction

A continuity correction used in certain problems in mathematical statistics (e.g. in the problem of testing statistical independence). It is used to improve the approximation by a $\chi^2$-distribution of the $\chi^2$-test statistic (cf. also [[Chi-squared distribution| Chi-squared  distribution]]; [[Chi-squared test| Chi-squared  test]]). It was proposed by J. Yates [[#References|[1]]].
