Unit representation

The one-dimensional representation of a group 
that maps each element of 
to the number 1. More generally, the unit representation of a group 
in a vector space 
is the representation of 
that maps each element of 
to the identity operator in 
. The unit representation is sometimes also called the trivial representation.
